B-cycle Demo Tour - Coming to a City Near You!

B-cycle has decided to hit the road for a demo tour this summer and will be coming to a community near you!  The 2010 B-cycle Demo Tour’s first stop was Oaklavia in Oakland, California this past Sunday, June 27.  For an inaugural event, the turnout was off the charts and B-cycle was incredibly busy!  As soon as we opened up the trailer to unload, and before we even had a chance to set up, we were swarmed by people asking all about B-cycle.

For the next six hours, we experienced a constant barrage of visitors and questions.  Questions about B-cycle, and questions about what bike sharing is all about.  Our message – B-cycle is a green, healthy means of urban transportation that reduces congestion and makes cities more livable and vibrant.  This inevitably led to the question “When is B-cycle coming to Oakland?”  B-cycle not only generated interest from the citizens, but also from the local governments – Oakland City Council members, AC Transit (the local bus system) and other communities such as Emeryville and Berkeley.

The visitors kept coming all the way to the end.  We were answering questions even as we were packing up and loading the demo trailer.  Overall, we were very impressed with the turnout, energy, and enthusiasm we saw…particularly for the inaugural Oaklavia event.  We definitely look forward to returning for 2011!
